Sheetz, an American convenience store chain, previously managed its business-level applications — such as its credit processing and MySheetz® loyalty program — across an assortment of single-function devices. They sought a hyperconverged solution that was more affordable, simple to use, and offered high availability (a feature that hadn’t been possible with their existing setup), all of which they were able to find with StorMagic SvSAN.

The business chose to deploy StorMagic across it’s 600+ US store locations, virtualizing their storage environment and optimizing their in-store computer systems. SvSAN provided Sheetz with several key benefits, including:

  • High availability
  • Centralized management
  • Automated deployment
  • Reduced hardware failure

Additionally, Sheetz was able to install SvSAN much quicker than anticipated, thanks to a simple-to-execute script that allowed them to deploy their first 100 stores in less than two months.

“Our initial POC and extended pilot of ten locations was spread out over the course of ten months…Thanks to some automated processes and the relatively seamless conversions, we’ve escalated the timeline to standardize on SvSAN across all of our convenience stores. The StorMagic support team was top-notch and helped us plan out the deployment procedures and deal with any minor issues that popped up.”

— Scott Robertson, universal endpoint unit manager, Sheetz Inc.

SvSAN is an ideal solution for retail environments that require simple, lightweight storage, across hundreds or thousands of sites, for a reasonable cost. It’s perfect for locations where IT staff aren’t present to administer technology and address failures (like retail stores).
