Gartner have written a report on the five imperatives that will drive edge solutions in the next few years, ultimately shaping the future of edge computing.
We believe the report predicts that change at the edge will come from multiple markets, working at multiple edges. But there will be common drivers between the different markets that predict the effectiveness of an ‘edge solution’.
Critical factors, such a low-latency requirements and local interactivity are highlighted as vitally important, and will be vital in the development of technology like autonomous vehicles, which need to be able to respond quickly to external stimulus and make decisions quickly.
