Case Study: GRG Public Resources Ltd. Eliminates Downtime Risk with SvSAN
Stafford, UK-based GRG Public Resources Ltd. recently refreshed its environment and has dramatically improved data availability—by 100 percent —with StorMagic SvSAN, the software-defined storage solution designed for edge environments.
GRG PRL works with police forces and fire services across the UK providing 24-hour, year-round call handling for vehicle removal, emergency boarding of premises and keyholder lists. Approximately 80 percent of GRG PRL’s applications now run on StorMagic, and help to manage inbound call routing software for hundreds of phone lines.
According to Paul Blaylock, Technology Manager of GRG Public Resources Ltd, “StorMagic SvSAN delivers the features and benefits of a physical SAN without adding the complexities associated with more equipment from multiple vendors. With it, we have improved availability by 100 percent from our previous solution and are no longer concerned with downtime risks associated with server failures.”
GRG Public Resources replaced HP servers with two new Dell servers and added StorMagic SvSAN to simplify GRG PRL’s storage infrastructure, improve uptime and to leverage VMware’s benefits, without having to install a physical SAN.
Key benefits realized to date include:
- Improved Availability – They’ve realized a 100 percent improvement in data availability in the event of host failure
- Guaranteed Uptime – Their assets are not available 24×7
- Cost Savings – StorMagic was a less expensive overall solution and didn’t require upgraded VMware licensing fees
- Exceptional Support – Service has been excellent from set up on day one
