Business challenge
hauser.reisen previously used Supermicro servers with local storage to process and manage IT data from its ERP, CRM and SQL databases. When the global coronavirus pandemic emerged, the travel industry was significantly affected and the corresponding budgets were cut. However, a modernization of the IT infrastructure was imperative, presenting new challenges. With a tight budget, the company decided to review its IT infrastructure and select the appropriate solutions on the market to enable the modernization.
Solution
The first step was to look at alternative local server storage solutions to replace the existing servers. High availability was one of the most important requirements for hauser.reisen. The company’s employees organize and book travel packages for customers, and access to the databases had to be available around the clock to meet customer needs and provide exceptional service at a time when travel was being reduced. Together with their IT service provider it@business GmbH & Co. KG, they quickly realized that a new hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solution was the answer to all their requirements.
StorMagic was chosen as the ideal replacement for hauser.reisen’s small datacenter. SvSAN is a true HA solution at a very attractive price point. By virtualizing with SvSAN, and due to its low cost for performance, the customer was able to free up budget to invest in new hardware. They loved that 99 percent of the hardware could be dedicated to compute processes, thanks to SvSAN’s very small footprint.
